It's impossible not to fall for her at the beginning of her journey and become invested in her life. Morrigan is still growing up and coming into her powers. Moreover, her struggles and insecurities about being unwanted and blood family-less crop up whenever appropriate, such as her visits with Hawthorne's family or her moments with Jack and Jupiter.
The book makes it clear she is not a grown up in a small body as some books targeted towards a young adult/middle grade audience do. She is a great character with logical struggles for an eleven year old (eventually older) while still throwing tantrums and having misunderstandings as a young person would have. Despite being surrounded by people, she is alone and all she has to look forward to is her death. Morrigan has a difficult time reconciling her feelings of loneliness and worthlessness with her desire to be loved by her family. Nevermoor (Series), Author (2022) Wundersmith: The Calling of.
